In April I (Angela) had a Murder Mystery Party for my team at Roundtable. This one was just for the girls, except that we needed on man, who was the bartender and a charmer and, as it turned out in the end, a slime-ball. Rick was a natural at the bartending (yes, we had mocktails) and small talk, but super embarrassed and cute with his role, blushing a bit. His character was Joe, so that's what my friends still call him.
Here's a picture of a hike that Rick took Aiden and Jordan on when they were at the Father-Son campout.
In October Rick and I (Angela) went to Woodbadge together. When we moved in and found out about the stake paying for people who will get Woodbadge trained in October, we jumped at the opportunity, having wanted to go for 12 years. It all came together so fast. We got permission Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m., packed, and left Thursday morning at 5:30 a.m. He was placed in the Buffalo patrol, and I was placed in the Bear patrol. It was great to share this experience together for two 3-day weekends - well, sorta together.
A week later Rick was called as Bear Leader. When he got to know the boys, he found that their den meeting were focused primarily on belt loops, and none were advancing toward their Bear rank, so Rick dug right in. He has a goal that every boy who is in his den this month will receive their rank by February's Blue & Gold Banquet. It's quite a goal, but everyone is quite happy with the progress Rick is making it he den. He's been a real trooper! (haha)
