2013 and 2014 in a Nutshell

Moving to Logan June 2013 then not ending up being able to buy our cottage on a wooded half acre was a blow. Ending up moving into a small 3 bedroom apartment (six of us) then not being able to move out into a house was an additional blow.  Barely enduring my dream job at the scout office was excruciating. Then Rick losing his job in September 30 was a major, major setback blow.  Frankly, I didn't want to even think about 2013, let alone tell any of you about it and sound like I was being negative.  Looking back, that was a very, very hard year for us.

The end of 2013, just short of a week after Christmas, I received a prompting to donate one of my kidneys to someone at work.  This was a secret between me and the Lord, until August 2014. However, it has consumed my thoughts all year. Anything else, even Roundtable (of which I am commissioner again) and cub scouts, feels like a distraction and something in my way.  Thanksgiving almost wasn't pulled together, my birthday pulled together the day of, Christmas happened, and New Year's Eve and Day was planned only a couple days before.  I have been totally consumed with my prompting, which turned into promptingS over the months, and how to accomplish it.

If you would like to read my story, it can be found at http://mykidneydonationexperience.blogspot.com/
I know, it's not a very creative name, but that is on purpose.  It was an attempt to make it easily found in searches.

To summarize, I am having a kidney removed on January 20, 2015, and donating it to my friend Jennica. My parents are coming to take care of me for the first couple of weeks, and I won't be returning to work for about 6 weeks post-op. I feel super excited for Jennica, and I am honored that I have this opportunity to serve, which I would never have even considered without that prompting .... or 3.

Other than my consumed thoughts, I remember Chanelle's 16 birthday party. We waited until after ballroom competition season to give her a surprise birthday party.  She thought she was going to spend the day doing girly things with her new-ish friend, who took Chanelle with her to just pop in on a party she had promised to show up at for just a minute, which turned out to be Chanelle's party. Chanelle thought it was a cool coincidence that Morynne's birthday friend's circle of friends included so many people that Chanelle also knew.  She was really confused when they all ran to Chanelle, yelling her name, then gave her big hugs! We started the party at a park, then ate ice cream at a restaurant, then went to a farm and had a paint war.  It took 5 months to get all the paint out of the girls' hair. The kids had a lot of fun and still talk about it.

The boys had fun swimming at our apartment's pool over the summer, and they spent a lot of time at the library.  Logan has a free city bus system (because of the University) which is clean and very, very safe. It's wonderful!

2014 I started working at an elementary school as a part time teacher's aide. I love it!
