They're Engaged!

The Proposal Story, according to Angela:

Christopher and Deleise had a full day last Saturday (March 24, 2012):
*1st they went to the temple to do baptisms,
*Then they watched Hunger Games in the theater.
*They longboarded to a beach along Utah Lake in Orem.
*Christopher's roommate brought to the beach a surpise picnic (surprise to Deleise) so it was there before Christopher and Deleise arrived.
*After the picnic Christopher held her hand and suggested they take a walk on the beach.  As they went along, of course, she found a shell here, a rock there, and so did Christopher. Then Christopher slyly took the box out of his pocket, then bent down to the sand as he said, "Look at this rock."  He pretended to pick it up from the sand, opened the box with her ring in it, and on one knee asked, "Will you marry me?"

They are scheduled to get married September 27, 2012, in the Utah Manti Temple.

The ring is beautiful, with the square black diamond in the middle, surrounded by a halo of tiny white diamonds.  On each side of the ring are cut 3 tiny leaves with a black diamond set in each. (Well, these diamond are white in the picture, but they will be changed to black.) The black that you see on the side of the leaves is actually a cut-away, so you would be able to see her finger in the spot if you were looking.

As you can see, there are intricately cut designs around the ring. I made the picture large so you can see the details.  I think the ring looks timeless, as if they went back in time a century and bought an "antique" ring when it was brand new.

*They finished the day by attending the Festival of Colors at the Karishna Temple in Spanish Fork.  This is a hugely popular event in Utah County.

The Festival of Colors is a Hindu religious spring festival celebration.  It's open to the community.  I haven't been, so I don't know or understand everything, but the participants buy bags of colored chalk and at certain times throughout the day they throw the chalk at each other. (Click Festival of Colors to learn more about it / see it. I particularly liked :40-:46.)

As you can see, Christopher and Deleise enjoy having fun together.

Competition

Last Saturday (March 24) I went to a ballroom competition. It was at Westlake High School and I danced with James Lewis in the Cha Cha/ Foxtrot, and Samba/ Rumba. We kept making cuts which we thought was surprising but it was also amazing. We made Finals! We placed 5th (out of 8) in the Cha Cha/ Foxtrot. Then for Samba/ Rumba, we took 4th ( out of 6). They said that we actually tied for 3rd but rule 11 brought us down to 4th.
Rule 11: This is when the judges look at semi finals and see what you scored there. So in finals, they tied you, but then they look at the cut before to see what the judges said about you there.
